The attacker may continue attacking, but only using cards whose values are already on the board: In this case, 6's or 9's. So now we've got the six and nine of clubs down on the board, and for now, the defender has defended against the attack. This card is usually put down next to or on top of (but not obscuring) the attackers card. The Defending player then must put down a card from their hand that is of the same suit and also of higher rank, or they may put down any trump card, which is any card of the trump suit, which we'll use Diamonds for in the example.
The player whose turn it is "Attacks" the other player with a card from their hand by laying it down face up in front of themselves.
Subsequent games, the winner goes first and can play whatever they want.) However, since one of these suits will be the trump suit, don't include that suit in the ranking (I know, this sounds overly complicated, but this is only for the first game. If both players have a 6, the suit order for highest to lowest goes: Heart, Diamond, Spade, Club. You can skip the next part and decide who goes first any way you like, but this is the official way:įor the first hand, the player with the lowest card goes first. The suit of that card is the "Trump Suit" for this game. Take the top card of the deck, flip it over, and place it under the deck, face up, perpendicular to the deck so it's sticking out and you can see what it is. Remove all 2's, 3's, 4's and 5's from a standard deck. The first one to get rid of all their cards wins. Eventually the deck will run out and the final showdown will happen. If the attack is defended, the cards on the table are "Burned" - turned over and set out of play. If the attack is not defended against, the defender picks up all cards on the table, the attacker "Reloads" to six cards by drawing from the deck, and attacks again. Players take turns attacking one another with cards from their hand. I decided to write out (most of) the rules for this one, as it is my favorite card game, and everyone I've taught it to loves it.
